About DL Surveys
What others say
Real jobs. Real voices.
Landowners, developers and architects across Waikato, Auckland and the Bay of Plenty, in their own words.
Everyone else said they could not do it in time. DL Surveys replied instantly, then worked the weekend on a remote site. They went well beyond what we expected.
It could not have gone better. Cost effective, fast, and they got my subdivision titles issued in a timeframe I still find hard to believe.
Great. Would recommend. Good communication, a quote in advance, and then they walked me through the results.
I am truly happy with the fast, cost effective service. It is always a pleasure to work with consultants of this calibre.
I will definitely work with you again. You helped within a tight window, even when you were busy. Excellent subdivision advice, I have already recommended you.

What does DL Surveys do?
Drone & Land Surveys Limited (DL Surveys) is a Hamilton based surveying practice providing cadastral surveying, subdivisions, boundary surveys, topographical surveys, drone surveying, setout, as built surveys, monitoring, GIS and photogrammetry services. We also provide planning and engineering services across the Central North Island of New Zealand.
Where is DL Surveys based, and which areas do you cover?
DLS is based in Hamilton, New Zealand, and provides services throughout Waikato, Auckland and Bay of Plenty.
Are your surveyors licensed in New Zealand and approved by Land Information NZ?
Yes. Cadastral surveys requiring statutory authorisation are undertaken under the responsibility of a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, in accordance with applicable New Zealand legislation and LINZ requirements. Our services include subdivision surveys, boundary reinstatement, cross lease updates and title conversions.
How much does a land survey cost in Hamilton?
The cost depends on the site, the scope of work and the type of survey required. A boundary survey, a subdivision and a drone survey of a large rural property each have different requirements. We provide free quotes and advise on the expected timeframe before work begins.
Do I need a boundary survey before I put up a fence?
If boundary marks are missing, the existing fence appears incorrectly positioned, or a boundary is disputed, a boundary survey may be necessary to establish the legal boundary. Existing fences do not always follow legal boundaries. Contact us before building if you are unsure which survey you need.
When is a drone survey better than a traditional topographic survey?
Drone surveying can be efficient for large sites and can provide high resolution aerial imagery, orthomosaics, contours and terrain models. Total station and GNSS surveys may be more suitable for confined sites, areas with heavy vegetation, or work requiring specific ground measurements and cadastral marks. We recommend the survey method based on your site conditions and accuracy requirements.
Can you convert a cross lease to a freehold title?
We can assist with cross lease to fee simple (freehold) conversions, including the surveying and plan preparation involved. The process depends on the property, existing titles, council requirements and any necessary approvals. We can assess your property and advise on the steps involved.
How do I get a free quote?
